CDEM Plans
The Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 requires each CDEM Group to write and maintain a Group Plan. CDEM Groups can then write additional Plans suitable for their partivular region. Additional plans in the Bay of Plenty include:
- Group Welfare Plan
- Group Recovery Plan
- Group Public Information Plan
Bay of Plenty CDEM Group Plan
The Bay of Plenty CDEM Group Plan is a statutory requirement under the Civil Defence and Emergency Management Act which came into effect on 1 December, 2002. The Bay of Plenty’s plan came into effect in May 2005. It was reviewed in November 2007 and adopted in April 2008. The plan will undergo a formal reveiw in 2010, in accordance with the CDEM Act 2002. The aim of the Plan is to provide for a coordinated and integrated approach to the way significant risks and hazards are managed. This will help ensure the community’s social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being as well as safety of people and property. The Plan sets the direction for civil defence and emergency management in the Bay of Plenty.
Purpose:
The broad purpose of this Plan is to enable the effective and efficient management of regionally significant hazards and risks.

- Encouraging cooperation
- Seeking commitment to achieve better outcomes
