Title:Exercise provides valuable lessons
Abstract:Responding to disaster is never easy, however emergency management staff in the Bay of Plenty are now more practised and prepared after participating in the national Exercise Tangaroa on Wednesday. Bay of Plenty Civil Defence Emergency Management Group (CDEM) Group Controller Warwick Murray said the exercise provided an opportunity for Emergency Coordination Centre staff to increase their familiarity with both their role and with the running of an emergency centre.

Title:Bay of Plenty supports Canterbury with extra specialists
Abstract:Bay of Plenty Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group has today supplied additional staff to Canterbury to assist with the earthquake recovery effort. Earlier this week, the region sent the Bay of Plenty CDEM Group Recovery Manager Terry Wynyard to Canterbury and today the CDEM Manager Greg Wilson is flying in to assist.

A newly developed map showing tsunami inundation zones for the Bay of Plenty coastline has been released by the Bay of Plenty Civil Defence Emergency Management Group (CDEMG) as a tool to help coastal residents improve their tsunami preparedness planning.
