Our beautiful rohe (region) is exposed to a diverse range of different geological, meteorological and man-made hazards, that we need to be aware of, so we can keep ourselves, our whānau and our communities safe.
In an effort to continue hazard risk assessments, ensure preparedness, and to help support our communities to adapt and respond effectively to a broad range of impacts from hazards, we have developed the Hazardscape Report - an educational resource that acts as a one-stop-shop for relevant hazard information that is specific to the Bay of Plenty.
The report also outlines the frequency and potential impacts of each hazard, as well as the environmental, social, and economic factors that influence vulnerability and resilience.
The term ‘hazardscape’ refers to the overall landscape of hazards in a region, encompassing both natural and human induced risks.
If you’d like to have a read, you can find the full version of the Hazardscape resource on our website.
The more you know, the more prepared you are.
